" I PRAISE MY PRIESTHOOD"
(Right knowledge and faith, hieratic morality, ecclesiastic experience)
With the blessing of the Honorable Metropolite of Kambala and all of
Uganda Mr. Ionas and the participation of the Honorable Metropolite
Goulou and east Uganda Mr. Sylvestros we are organizing for the second
year a hieratic seminar in the parish of Saint Spyridon in Luguzi .
THE NECESSITY OF THE SEMINARS
Throughout our missions in Uganda those passing years, we realized
the need of special attention and care for the orthodox priests of
Uganda who struggle against all odds. The priests in Uganda are not only
clergymen but also fathers, doctors, teachers and more.
LAST YEAR'S EXPERIENCE
Last year's seminars made the best impression to all the clergymen
and created a blessing atmosphere and craving for the continuation of
the seminars.Taking that into consideration, once again we cooperated
with the holy metropolis of Uganda in order to organize the 2nd hieratic
seminar in Luguzi.
THE TOPIC OF THE 2nd SEMINAR IS : " I praise my priesthood"
The
topic of this year's seminar is about the inner joy that should fill
the heart of the priests as they perform the mass, share and sacrifice
for the common well being.
It is worth mentioning that in many parts in Greece people's wish to the priest is to praise their priesthood.
The
seminar will expand to fundamental rules of the orthodox faith, the
hieratic morality and the development of methods that appeal to the
African reality.
Our aim is to educate the clergymen so that they will be able to cope with the new conditions in Africa that constantly changes.
PLACE:
The seminar will take place in the holy church of Saint Spyridon in
Luguzi. The priests will be hosted in the premises of the Primary
school, which will be used as a guest house temporarily.
TIME: The seminar will start on Sunday 26 August and will end on Sunday 1 September 2019.
SCHEDULE:
Every day the matins, the holy mass and the vespers will be performed.
There will be morning speeches followed by questions priests may pose
and clarifications given by the speakers.
After
lunch, small working teams will be organized and will deal with
subjects concerning the functions and course of the parishes.We will
also organize visits to prisons and hospitals.
After dinner the priests will have the chance to watch projections from monasteries and pilgrimage from the orthodox world.
